That’s right, I’ve broken down and just plain moved it’s own domain. It’s not that there’s been that much traffic over there but I figure it’s a great incentive for post more over there. It’s still pretty much going to be the same plus as time permits I’m going try a few bits of experimental humor just to see what happens. There really isn’t a solid plan just whatever strikes my fancy. There might a video or two, maybe a podcast. Heck I might even try to DRAW something. There might even be more if ever get that cloning technology down and get two of me typing away and creating stuff while another gets to sit in a cube at the day job. to pay the bills.
So stay tuned, kids. There will be more interesting little announcements in the coming weeks.

How many obscure references can I squeeze into one headline. Let’s see there was the big blow up in the Old School community about I Hit It With My Axe and D&D with Porn Stars. Then there was the whole Gencon Ball & Chain drama. Last week, there was the South Park episode about that really popular guy from the Middle East (I’d like to wait a few months before I start getting death threats). It just seems that a lot people have been getting offended lately.
All this got me thinking. Now, this post isn’t about passing judgment on anybody. It’s not about who’s right and who’s wrong and all that crap. It’s about me. Yes, that sounds really self centered but just hear me out, folks. I look back at what I wanted to do with this blog when I first started it and how it has evolved over the years. And I’ve wimped out. I’ve sugar coated posts. I’ve dumped posts in case someone might have been offended by them.
Every society needs moral codes and there need to be lines that just aren’t to be crossed. In a free society, where many of those lines get drawn is a personal choice. I’ve been drawing too many of my lines based on somebody else’s code. To put it bluntly, some of the shit I’ve posted was bland soulless dribble. I can put on the lackluster facade for the conformist cubicle farm in my day job but not here. Not anymore.
This is not the end of The Geek Life Project. It’s not really a reboot. It’s a return the roots of what I originally wanted this blog to be about. You’re probably not going to notice a lot of changes. I’ll still be doing many of the same things that I’ve been doing. There will still be plenty of posts about Savage Worlds and table top gaming in general and with the same regularity. A few categories may be shifted around and a few cosmetic changes might occur. There’s going to be more material going out to the much neglected non-RPG categories. There might a few experimental things happen. Maybe a podcast or some vlogging. Who knows? You’ll just have to wait and see.
So let start this rebirth off right. Hi, I’m Chuck. I’m a geek. I’ve played D&D since White Box. My first computer was a Vic-20. I think Batman is cooler than Superman. I think that Babylon-5, Farscape and Firefly were the best SciFi TV series ever. I have watched pr0n on the Internet. I do not live in my parents basement. I have “been” with a woman (and have been in a wonderful stable relationship for 10 years). I smoke. I drink. I cuss. This is who I am. Take it or leave it.

New Year and New Stuff. It’s a new year and you’re going to be seeing some neat stuff around here.
When I first started this blog, I was planning on doing all sorts of geeky goodness. But thanks to the RPG Bloggers Network, I’ve really focused on RPG’s over the last year. I’m going to return to my roots. That’s not saying that I won’t be blogging about RPG’s, there will be stuff about the same amount of stuff, I’m just going to throw more general geeky posts.
There’s going to some really cool stuff coming in 2010. There’s going to be the Savage Worlds goodies that so many of you have grown accustomed to. Hopefully, I should be starting a new campaign some time this year. And a few surprises that you’ll just have to stay tuned for.
So Happy New Year and let’s make 2010 great.

So I was going to make the big Geek Life Project announcement this weekend and I still am but the OGL/GSL thing with WOTC has my dander in a bit of ruff.
A friend of mine posted some pretty good commentary on the whole open gaming movement and the latest tidbit over on Enworld. I agree with him and am holding on to my dollars until there is some open news on the new GSL. I understand that WOTC has every right to make money. It’s a no brainer. But the entire RPG industry is driven not by marketing budgets and hanging on to game systems with iron grasp. It’s driven by community. No matter how many bucks are thrown into the marketing budget, it’s us who make gaming a living and breathing hobby. There those who saying don’t worry things won’t get that bad. I what one thing that really gives me pause. Look at the terms for Gleemax. Anything you post there is theirs.
Now on to more happy thoughts. I’ve given up even thinking that I’m not blogging. So here I am ready to start The Geek Life Project. More geekiness, more of the time. As some of you out there may have noticed I’ve started cross posting to my Livejournal and I’m still playing with the Myspace cross poster to get that to work.
Why am I doing this? I must give credit to Anthony Bourdain. I just finished reading Kitchen Confidential. My girl friend is currently a chef between gigs (They actually call them that just like musicians.) and we had this whole discussion about me not understanding the cooking world. After a few minutes, we realized that I did know more than she thought but less than I thought. So I read the book, I have a couple of books on the “to read” shelf and there’s probably some more that will make their way there. But all this got me thinking. How many people just don’t get the geek life style. What drives us? What makes us special? If you prick us do we not bleed? So thus it begins. My own personal Geek Life Project. Writing and ranting about life as geek in world that just doesn’t get it.
