So normally when something becomes the topic de jour via the RPG Bloggers Network, I pretty much keep my mouth shut or at most post a comment on one of the blogs. I just don’t feel there’s much of a point to put another “Me, too!” post.
The whole thing centers around this year’s Ennie nominations for Best Free Product. Go ahead, look at the list. You’ve got a couple of Quick Start Rules for upcoming products. So, yeah. They’re free. And yes I do have a couple of them and think that they were damned good free previews but in no way should they be considered a product worthy of an award. Yes, they cost the publisher time and money to product but they are still just samples. That’s it. It’s not a complete product.
I doubt the nomination committee will do anything about it this year. Maybe they’ll change their minds for next year’s nomination. What to do in the mean time? Vote for the “Best Free Product” not the best sample. Remember, voting starts July 24th.
Finally, thanks to The Free RPG Blog and Chgowiz’s Old Guy RPG Blog for starting this ball rolling.

Many thanks for the support! I hope I might be able to change ENnies minds for next year such that they might perform nominations in a way that’s suitable to Free RPGs.
