Damn, last week was busy that barely posted anything. Heck, I didn’t even do most of my normal posting. Of course, this is actually no indication that anything has slowed down a bit.
It’s been all Crunchy Bits (the cookbook) all the time. That last bit of editing is dang near done but have a long session of layout to do. I’m talking about a little that’s going to be going on almost every page. And no. There isn’t a way that I can I do it quickly and simply. The lesson here is prior planning people. Those last minute ideas really push back project completion.
This also means I haven’t had a lick of time to work on any of the RPG projects or do any writing. Every evening is something. Hell, that’s what life is all about. One damned thing after another.
My perfect plan is to have some good news by the end of the month. But, hell, I’ve said that before. So sit back and laugh at me while I try grind my threw this stuff. Like Warren Zevon said, “I’ll sleep when I’m dead.”
OK, yeah. I know. I just might get even more hate mail on this one. Get over it.
First let’s get this little bit out of the way. Bach is pronounced like batch not like the composer. Get it? It’s from New Zealand.
This whole idea has been months in the creation. It boils down to this. We know we need to some remodeling and/or changing of lifestyle around the old homestead. We’ve talked about it and gotten kind of nowhere. The S.O. started thinking about Container houses. This lead me to searching the webs and doing some research which eventually lead me to Tiny Homes. Like any bit of research, one thing leads to another and discovered oddly enough our current home is slightly bigger than the largest of what many consider to be a tiny house. We’ve got just under 1,000 SF of living space.
This lead to our design ideas of taking some the efficient designs of tiny home living and applying to our current house. But we’re not done yet. The other day I heard about Baches in New Zealand. Basically, a small bachelor pad. A small house. But here’s the kicker. It’s built from salvaged and hand-me-down materials. Now there’s a cool idea. Heck, we’ve already redid our kitchen island like this.
So the plan is simple. Craigslist, Habitat for Humanity Restore Stores, and Freecycle. Let’s see how far we can take this. Oh, updates and even more craziness is on the horizon for me.
Hey, another update. Things are moving quickly around here and next week things are going to be moving even faster. Yeah, I may off from the day job but that doesn’t mean that there will be much idle time. OK, I’m going to take some.
Let’s Crunchy Bits the cook book is moving forward at a break neck speed. Getting it done it the big project for next week. That little monster is going to get done. That even means designing the ads. Really, we should be able to get that thing done in a week without a day job in the way.
Then there’s cranking the final draft of Skarynth: Swords of A Forgotten Age for Swords & Wizardry. This project really has evolved, I’m actually pretty proud of it. And speaking of Swords & Wizardry, on Wendesday April 17 is Swords & Wizardry Appreciation Day. Thanks to Erik over at Tenkar’s Tavern, over 120 blogs have signed. That’s right even including me. Those posts won’t be over here but over at They Might Be Gazebos! So stayed tuned for those festivities next week.
Also, for those keeping up with other life adventures, the neighbors got back with me on the fence. So add in working on the fence, next week too.
As far the future goes, there’s a lot of really cool stuff planned. There’s all sort gaming and cooking projects. Plus there’s some mundane things that should prove to be very interesting but you’re going to have to stay tuned for that.
That’s right, kids. A steak patent. Now, this is some sort Monsanto Frankencow. No, just a normal cow, just butchered ingeniously.
Finding new and more efficient ways to use food is cool. I really like that. But looks like Oklahoma State University has a different idea. No, really. I’m not making this up.
Sorry, folks. I know it took some work and creativity to come up with this but I really don’t see how this could be a patent. Maybe that’s why I’m not a lawyer but just some guy ranting on the Internet. This cut is already used for ground meat. It’s a pain in the ass to get to but being able to get to a cut of meat on a dead animal shouldn’t be a patent. No fricking way and I’m stick by that. What the hell are they going to do? Go by the local butcher shop (if you happen to be lucky enough to have one) and make sure the butcher isn’t cutting the cow their way. Just silly.
This just takes what was a secondary, non-important piece of meat and know make it high end cut.
