I'd love to see a well done Doc Strange movie. Hopfully they don't make it a kung fu movie with magic like the recent cartoon movie was.

I hear ya. I'm more curious, as you pointed out, can I use it with something else. I would probably merge Deadlands Noir with Realms of Cthulhu. I like aspects of Deadlands Reloaded very much, but there are parts that just are a bit too Willy Coyote to me..

Seeing as how Deadlands has the whole SWEX ruleset, plus alternate magic user Edges, regular edges and hindrances, maps, and etc.. I think we can expect this to have SWDX in it..

I just wish that the price of admission wasn't as expensive. $20 for the PDF is a bit pricey.

The fact that it is set in New Orleans, my favorite city every, alone makes me giddy.

I've actually got a similar feeling, although I just acquired Alternity that I've been waiting for for a while. I've now got a solid AD&D 2e collection, Dragonlance 5th Age, and Alternity, all the games from when I was a kid and started playing RPGs, the stuff I wanted then and couldn't have due to lack of money. That feels good to me. I'm not too worried about other stuff. After trying dozens upon dozens of RPGs and discovering they really didn't do what I thought they would, I'm not looking for the next RPG to be the fix. FATE didn't do it in the long run. ORE didn't do it in the long run, PDQ didn't do it in the long run. No system I've bought stands the test of time, and that makes me think none will. Emotional attachment and nostalgia do stand the test of time.

Like you, I'm somewhat curious about D&D Next, but that's more because D&D is pop culture. Knowing D&D is an extra social connection, whereas knowing another system is just some knowledge I'm most likely never going to use.

If you're content, stay content. Wait for discontent to come naturally, and then do something about it. Don't do it now. That said, I also fairly recently picked up Do: Pilgrims of the Flying Temple and Cosmic Patrol against my previous moratorium on buying books as their structure was different and I figured that just maybe they were the types of games that were as accessible as board games, where the abbreviated rules I'd present to the rest of the group would pretty much be all the rules, and we'd be on the same page. Haven't yet been able to test it though, as work /always/ gets in the way. Cosmic Patrol is an interesting mix of retro and indie that seems to capture the feel of loosely following rules but mostly making it up as you go along. Do is structured very differently from most RPGs, almost hard to call it one because of that, but it also has clear end conditions that can make it a complete experience after a few hours of play, something most RPGs never feel like they can deliver.

I'd really recommend checking out Myth & Magic. It started out as a 2nd Edition retro-clone but has become a game of its own. In short its a mix of cleaned up 2e with some 3e lite but ends up becoming a very very elegant system.

No problem. Nothing against I'm putting Adventures Dark & Deep into the supplement category and am looking foreward to getting it. Heck, I'm even a backer. :)

I'm going to toot my own horn and mention Adventures Dark and Deep. It tries to show what AD&D might have looked like if Gary Gygax had been allowed to pursue the plans he laid out in Dragon magazine in the early 1980's. Mountebanks, jesters, savants, mystics; a more streamlined combat system; new monsters (and variable hit dice for all monsters); tons of changes, but it still has the old-school feel. The supplement (for use with AD&D, OSRIC, Labyrinth Lord, etc.) is coming out this July, and the full-blown stand-alone rules are due to come out next year. I'm pretty darned pleased with it, if I may say so myself, and a lot of folks seem to be jazzed about it.

I think one of the really interesting things is when they will start picking the Faces for the areas in the city and start creating those connections. That's when it's going to get fun.

Very cool idea. Looking forward to seeing how it pans out.

What are you hoping the players will add to the city?

What do you think they will end up adding to the city?
