Sorry, I’m a bit behind the power curve. Our little group continued the Dresden Files game on last Friday, then I spent the rest of the weekend playing Guild Wars 2. It’s catch up time. And, yes, that was the Quote of the Session.
Our little party of heroes gets a few weeks to rest and relax. The Dude puts the moves on Whisper (his quite angry girlfriend) and thanks to a crazy dice mojo and a lack of Fate Points, he ends up putting a Severe Social Consequence on her. She’s forgiven him for quite a while. And then things go crazy.
Ursala shows up at the Dude’s dorm and gives him plastic plant. She instructs him just to take and leave it alone. She would owe him a small favor in the future. Eventually, they search the plant and find a listening device. The group is confused on why the Russian mobster would be bugging the Dude’s room. Then one of the characters remembers the Dude’s dorm mate who claimed that his uncle was just a legitimate Sicilian business specializing in waste disposal in New Jersey. They realize that there may be more than meets the eye about Tony the Douche.
Alex Wolfe shows up at the youth center to find the place shot up, tagged with spray paint and firebombed. Sister Maria is missing and she has been since before Morning Mass. Alex does his best to investigate but only ends up getting himself into trouble. It seems that one of the other nuns is more concerned that Sister Maria might be violating her vows with the young college football star (Fate points get handed out). Alex finally calls in his friends for some help.
They have a couple of missteps early in their investigation but they get back on track and decide to search the church and the nun’s quarters. Whisper explains how best to break into a church. They don’t ask. It doesn’t take them long to find the rectory and locate Sister Marisa’s quarters. Artie is preparing another of his special tracking spells to find Sister Maria. Yes and the joke goes out about searching for a nun’s underwear. Oh well.
They track the nun down to the boardwalk to one of the “cool” bars. It’s still early in the day and the place is closed. Being player characters they walk straight in, mainly because the door wasn’t locked. Inside it’s pretty crazy. Two cocktail waitresses are huddled in the corner crying. The bartender (a White Court Vampire) being interrogated at knife point by very angry Sister Maria (who is now in “street” clothes). It takes a while but they finally get everyone calmed down and to the heart of the matter. Sister Maria does compare the party to Scooby Do. The Dude (Shaggy), Alex in Wolf form (Scooby), Artie has to be Fred and Whisper as Velma.
Sister Maria has been investigating the new party drug “Red Crystal”, basically Ex mixed with Red Court Vampire Venom. She (and even the cops) have running into dead ends trying to figure out who is manufacturing the stuff. The usual suspect of the Red Court isn’t doing it. They are even looking for who is making the stuff. They agree to help Sister Maria track down the dealers.
Things get even more confusing when the party learns that Tony the Douche has set up meeting with some of Ursala’s boys. He’s looking for the drug dealer too but not for same reason. He’s hoping to franchise it up to the Northeast. The group decides to stake out the meeting.
The meeting doesn’t go as planned. Tony is an idiot and loses his patience with the Russians. He pulls his chromed Desert Eagle. The Russians are unimpressed. Whisper and Artie act quickly. Artie uses a Force Evocation to knock the gun out of Tony’s hand. Whisper kicks up a dust devil between the two parties to block any line of site. The group notices somebody else watching the meeting. And said person just took off on a motorcycle. Alex (again) chases down a motorcyclist. The party ends up with a prisoner. The Russians just shrug and leave. And Tony is sent packing back to the University. Oddly enough the nun has a place where they can interrogate their prisoner.
Now, the group is getting a little more interested in Sister Maria. A young nun who can manhandle a White Court Vampire, drives a Harley and has access to a convenient warehouse perfect for interrogations. They also learn that said warehouse has a very well stocked armory.
They learn that their prison is a lychthrope and a member of the Hell Hounds. A biker gang who hangs out in the Triangle. A place in town that is so bad “Even the cops don’t go there at night” (Aspect). They learn that the Hell Hounds started making the Red Crystal a couple of months ago after the gang stole some cargo off a ship in the harbor. Only their leader, Jack Russel, knows exactly the source of the extra ingredients. They get to location of the lab and head off for a confrontation.
Since the area has the “no cops” aspect. Everybody lets loose when attacking the lab. Two junior wizards against the front of a building can cause quite a bit of damage. Here’s the highlights. Whisper and Artie do a number on the building with fire and force. But Whisper ends up getting shot really badly. Alex runs around the building to cover the back door. Good thing too. He catches the leader and two bikers hauling a box (roughly 4 feet by 7 feet) into the back of a pickup. Alex being a massive werewolf just rips one the tires (and probably the rim as well) to shreds. Two bikers come running out the back of the burning building. That puts Alex against the boss plus four mooks. Not good odds. Two mooks start running off with the box while two others try to keep the werewolf at bay. Alex just charges past the bikers and jumps crashing down on the box breaking it open on the ground. Then things dangerous.
A very angry, very crazy and very ancient Red Court Vampire comes screaming out the box. She attacks the bikers and Alex. Who is closest to her. You know it’s bad when a group of people run out of burning building decide to run back inside because it’s safer. The Vampire rips a couple mooks apart and one shorts the biker boss dropping him with a single blow. The party retreats. The vampire retreats.
And that’s where our story is paused.
