So the other day, we were sitting back and watching a few episodes of BBQ Pitmasters on TLC. This started a little discussion around the house about just how subjective the judging is and how it could really be kicked up a few notches. Then we started talking about making a really tough BBQ competition. So here we go.
1. Contestants don’t bring their own meat. They draw straws and take their cuts in random order.
2. No custom or high tech pits. Everybody uses the same simple stock pits. No fans, water misting or anything fancy at all. No timer. No thermometer.
3. Here’s your wood pile. Everybody pulls from the same wood pile. Have the usual species available.
Yeah, kind of cut throat but hell, let’s make it interesting.
