We had another session of our Kingmaker game last Friday. Normally, I throw up the funniest parts of the session but this time there was a really good bit roleplaying.
Out little kingdom, Ruskov, is basically Good aligned. Our fearless leader is a fighter/cleric and he’s doing a great job of playing the protector and a good (and Good) ruler. Our leader wants the kingdom to be good, fair and free but we had a dilemma.
There’s a Good NPC cleric that the party had helped in the past. This session we found out that he might not be all that stable and has a somewhat checked past. Plus the guy is making a small power grab and we’re pretty sure that he is going to cause some major problems in the future.
Then we found a couple of evil cultists setting up a shrine just outside the city. They weren’t hiding or anything like that. They freely admitted who they were and what they were doing. They assured us that they weren’t planning anything “evil”. We had them detained on the spot and then started the debating.
On one hand, we had a “good” cleric that had justified bad actions in the past and was probably going to make a similar bad choice again and a few innocents would probably die. At the very least, he’ll probably cause some major political instability. On the other, we had a couple of “evil” cultists who had, as far as we could tell, done nothing wrong. They claimed they wouldn’t do any of the typical evil things like sacrifices. So what to do?
Being adventuring types at heart, we kind of pushed back making any final decisions. We basically put the good cleric on out watch list. The evil cultists are currently residing in our dungeon until we decide what to do.
Best quote of the game. The party is fighting a wight. The ranger lets forth with the battle cry, “Kill Wighty!”
