There’s thing thing called EDC or Everyday Carry. No really. It’s a thing. Basically, it’s all that junk you carry around in your pockets, backpack, messenger bag, purse, or whatever. It’s a fairly big thing with preparedness/survival types but as gamer it’s a pretty cool idea too.
These are things that I carry around with me that are just for gaming. Of course, I have notebooks and pens/pencils in my messenger back but I don’t always carry around my gaming backpack that has mini’s, a pretty hefty dice bag, pens, various tokens, my characters for for the games I’m currently playing, rule books, and notes. But when I’m not heading off to a game, here’s what’s I’ve got handy just in case.
Of course, there’s a back up set of dice. Yes, I have a die roller on my cell phone but there’s no substitute for physical dice. Speaking of my cell phone, I’ve got sitting handy on the SD card: PDF versions of the Pathfinder SRD, Swords & Wizardry, Lamentations of the Flame Princess and Crypts & Things. Also, I’ve a nearly full 16 gig flash drive. While I don’t always have my laptop with me. There’s generally one that might handy or available if push comes to shove. What does that have on it? Well, tons of OSR adventures, core books of the various systems that I really like such Pathfinder, Savage Worlds and a variety of retro clones.
In a way, it’s sort of like the good old Read An RPG In Public thing. I’m pretty much always ready for a quick pick-up game. I can play or run if thing just happen to turn out that way.
So, what’s in your Gamer EDC?
